Dorian Concept (AUT)
Live - Techno / Ambient
FRIDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2014
Since his first tests saved on his computer and his first improvisations on Micro Korg, with which he created a buzz on the Web, the young Oliver Thomas Johnson has come a long way, playing in the four corners of the world. Perfectly self-taught art and genial producer, he was spotted in his earliest productions by Gilles Peterson, Benji B and Mary Anne Hobbs, who enshrine him on the international scene. Renowned multi-instrumentalist, he learned by himself how to play many instruments and he accompanied on stage artists such as Flying Lotus or Cinematic Orchestra in venues as legendary as the Royal Albert Hall or the Barbican Centre in London. A prodigy in control of the Zoo this Friday!
Neglecting somewhat his famous Micro Korg, Dorian Concept has been busy over the last two years to create a new sound for his second album, Joined Ends, released at the end of the summer on the prestigious label Ninja Tune. Bartering his mythical instrument against a Wurlitzer electric piano, he has put a new face on his productions, which combine an innate sense of improvisation with hip-hop, garage and techno influences. Boiler Room aficionados will certainly have appreciated the highly variegated colours and magical atmosphere that emerge from his lives. The public from French-speaking Switzerland will have the opportunity to discover the new trio formation of Dorian Concept, during his performance in Geneva. Unique!
